Marine Hotel Transfer to Troon and the Marine Hotel. Commanding magnificent views over the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran and the 18th hole of the famous Royal Troon Golf Course, the Marine Hotel occupies an enviable location that is difficult to beat. Home to around 20 golf courses and a long sandy beach, this idyllic spot offers breathtaking scenery. All guests can enjoy complimentary use of the newly refurbished Bodysense health club with pool, sauna and squash court. The Fairways Restaurant has an enviable reputation for fine dining and has recently been voted the second best hotel restaurant in the UK by readers of First Forum. There are 90 comfortable bedrooms, including five suites and ten Premium rooms at the hotel. They are extremely comfortable, tastefully designed and very well equipped.

This afternoon golf will be arranged on the Western Gailes. The reputation of Western Gailes as one of the game's finest and more exacting courses has spread world wide, as evidenced by its numerous visitors from well furth of Scotland 's shores. Our setting is imposing being situated between the railway and the sea, a fact that accounts for both being very much in play as major features. It is special amongst seaside courses that are no more than two holes wide, in having its clubhouse in a more or less central position. The course, 6639 yards off the medal tees is, as the standard scratch score rating of 74 indicates, never other than an excellent test of true links golf.

Glasgow to Troon is approximately a 50 minute drive.
Edinburgh to Troon is approximately at 1 hour and 45 minute drive.

Wednesday, July 15:
Dundonald Golf Course Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Dundonald Golf Club. The newest addition to Loch Lomond Golf Club is Dundonald. Designed by Kyle Phillips, one of the game’s top architects, it has been recognized as one of the best new courses in the world (Robb Report 2004). Situated by the sea near the legendary town of Troon, Dundonald’s soil and climate conditions make the course suitable for year-round play. “My desire was to create a championship Ayrshire-style links course that felt and played as though it was an old rediscovered course, by integrating newly constructed features with existing site features.” Kyle Phillips, course designer.

Non golfers may like to visit Burns Heritage Trail. The Burns Heritage Trail takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Scotland. Robert Burns lived most of his short life in Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway and was inspired by the lands and women around him. The Heritage Trail takes you on a journey through Burns' life from the cottage in Alloway that is his birthplace to his grave in Dumfries. Burns most famous works were written in South West Scotland and you can visit the places where the ideas for these poems were born. Robert Burns was born in a cottage in Alloway on the 25th January 1759. This cottage is now part of the Burns Heritage Trail and visitors and tourists flock to see it. The Brig 'O' Doon is a famous landmark due to the fact that it is featured in the Heritage Trail because Robert Burns once wrote a poem that involved it.

Thursday, July 16:
Royal Troon Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Royal Troon Golf Club. Frequent host to the British Open, Royal Troon is consistently ranked as one of the World's best links courses. It was created by the hand of Willie Fernie, one of the great early British golfers in 1878. A classic links course in every respect, the golfer is eased into the challenge with each hole appearing to get progressively tougher. Narrow fairways lined with trouble make tee shots critical, its bunkers are punishing and Troon's small greens require touch and imagination.

Today the golfers will enjoy lunch at the club.

A second round of golf will be arranged on the Troon Portland Course. Portland is another good links course and although overshadowed by its illustrious neighbor, it would be a mistake to dismiss it. It is in fact very similar to Royal Troon as far as the holes and hazards go but it is a bit shorter and more forgiving. Portland is always in excellent condition and is a serious alternative to its Royal British Open Old Course.

Non golfers may like to visit Culzean Castle. Home of the Kennedys, Culzean dates back to 1777 and is one of Robert Adams most notable creations. Culzean also has long associations with the USA, as General Eisenhower was given a suite of rooms here after the Second World War in appreciation by the British people. Culzean is surrounded by a country park which includes a walled garden established in 1783.

Friday, July 17:
Prestwick Golf Course Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Prestwick Golf Club. Founded in 1851, the setting for the very first Open, this is one of the best known and most distinguished clubs in Scotland. The Club is situated just half an hour south west of Glasgow on the famous Ayrshire coast, a stretch of land unequalled anywhere in the world for prime golfing terrain. Prestwick is every sense a true seaside course with traditional links turf.

Non golfers may like to visit Dean Castle. Dean Castle is a 14th-century keep and 15th-century palace and is the ancestral home of the Boyd family. It contains an outstanding collection of medieval arms, armor, tapestries and musical instruments, along with a display of Burns manuscripts. The country park has 200 acres of woodland and farmland, extending over the old estates of Dean and Assloss.
