The Petwood Hotel, Woodhall Spa

The hotel was originally built as the home of an Edwardian baroness, it later became home to the 617 Squadron – more commonly known as the Dambusters – when the Petwood was requisitioned by the RAF in the Second World War. Today, the Squadron Bar is dedicated to this group of men and makes an interesting port of call for those visiting the region for historical aviation tours.  The compelling sense of history when visiting the Petwood epitomises the hotel’s appeal. Extensive oak panelling and a beautifully hand-carved staircase exhibit some of the building’s original features around which the hotel has been sympathetically developed.
