Travel to Ireland
Ireland Short Stay Special Itineraries...
Day 1:
Your vacation of a lifetime starts with an overseas flight to Dublin, Ireland.
Day 2:
Upon your arrival in Dublin, you will be met by a SGH Golf representative who will assist you with your luggage and present you with a travel guide complete with maps, travel tips, and places of interest. After being shown to your rental vehicle, you will transfer to the Grand Hotel. The Grand Hotel offers a full four star service with extensive accommodation, leisure, conference, banquet facilities; complimented by the Colonnade Restaurant, Palm Court Carvery & Ryan's Bar. The Grand Hotel is still just 15 minutes from Dublin International airport. This award winning town bustles with life. Situated by Malahide Estuary, the Grand Hotel is the anchor around which much of the town was built.
This afternoon golf will be arranged on the Island Course. This Links is located across the estuary from the quaint village of Malahide, just north of Portmarnock. This beautiful links course, in splendid isolation is surrounded by the Irish Sea, Donabate beach and Broadmeadow estuary. Nestling between the highest sand dunes of any links course in Ireland its rugged beauty cannot fail to impress
Day 3:
After breakfast this morning golf will be arranged at Royal County Down. Currently listed as the number one Best Course In the World by Golf Digest, Royal County Down rightfully takes its place among the other legendary courses of the world. Royal County Down, situated alongside the Mountains of Mourne and the Town of Newcastle, is one of golf's most inspiring settings. The challenges provided by its golf holes are no less spectacular.
Day 4:
Today after breakfast, golf will be arranged at the European Club. The Links of The European Club presents a stunning golf and visual experience as it tumbles through almost 200-acres of glorious sand dunes and runs along the beach on Ireland's lovely east coast just south of Dublin. This is the first links to have been built on Ireland's east coast this century. An important happening in view of the fact that only 150 of the world's almost 40,000 golf courses are links!
Day 5:
After a full Scottish breakfast, golf will be arranged at Portmarnock Golf Club. Portmarnock Golf Club is universally acknowledged as one of the world's truly great links courses. Located on a small peninsula, which extends into the Irish Sea, Portmarnock is surrounded by water on three sides and laid out in serpentine fashion, with no two successive holes playing in the same direction. The quality and location of Portmarnock have made it a superb venue for some great events over the years.
Day 6:
As all good things must come to an end, so too must your golf vacation. Unless of course you choose to extend your vacation by taking the train to London, or hopping a plane to Scotland or England.

Day 1:
Your vacation of a lifetime starts with an overseas flight to Ireland.
Day 2:
Upon your arrival in Shannon, you will be met by a SGH Golf representative who will assist you with your luggage and present you with a travel guide complete with maps, travel tips, and places of interest. After being shown to your rental vehicle, you will transfer to Killarney and the Brook Lodge Hotel. Brook Lodge Hotel is a newer hotel, family run, situated in the heart of Killarney Town, set back from the street and on over an acre of landscaped garden. The large and tastefully decorated bedrooms are all en-suite. Excellent cuisine is served in the Brook Restaurant, which incorporates the best local produce into the menu.
This afternoon golf will be arranged on the Killaney Killeen. Killarney is truly one of the world's most beautiful golf settings. The Killeen Course, twice host to the Irish Open, is a fair, straightforward test of Parkland golf. Killeen offers a mix of holes, several bordered by water, others open with judicial bunkering, and yet others tree-lined with enough creeks and ponds to demand precise shots for an honest score. Number 17, a hole of modest length is made difficult by a silver of green guarded by a cavernous front bunker.
Day 3:
After breakfast this morning golf will be arranged at Old Head Kinsale. Old Head Golf Links is built on a 220-acre diamond of land, jutting out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean. The promontory is almost an island with numerous caves running beneath your feet as you play the course. The links and practice area occupy 180 acres and the remaining 40 acres of unspoilt cliff (rising in places to over 300 feet) frame the course.
Day 4:
Today after breakfast, golf will be arranged at Waterville Golf Links. Make no mistake about it; Waterville Golf Links in Kerry is one of the finest links golf courses in the world, never mind Ireland. Located on the Ring of Kerry, the surrounding scenery and quality of golf holes is breathtaking to say the least. The front nine holes, which were designed to contrast with the more rugged and exposed closing stretch, begin with the chillingly named "Last Easy", a fairly ironic name given the fact that it's not really that simple.
Day 5:
After a full Scottish breakfast, golf will be arranged at Tralee Golf Club. Designed and built by Arnold Palmer, this stunning setting represents a true paradise for those willing to challenge what is widely acclaimed as one of the finest links courses in the world. Smitten at first sight, Palmer would later go on record with this memorable quote: "I may have designed the first nine, but surely God designed the back nine". It comes as no surprise to learn that, due to the majestic beauty of this setting, Palmer choose it to be his first and, arguably, his finest golf course in Europe.

Upon your arrival in Shannon, you will be met by a SGH Golf representative who will assist you with your luggage and present you with a travel guide complete with maps, travel tips, and places of interest. After being shown to your rental vehicle, you will transfer to Doonbeg and the Lodge at Doonbeg. The Lodge at Doonbeg Golf Club completes Doonbeg's unique offering of spectacular links golf, beautiful seaside accommodations, and unparalleled service. This combination, unrivalled in Ireland, will make Doonbeg the ultimate links experience. Located adjacent to the course with sweeping views of the Atlantic, the Lodge will house the Clubhouse, 15 Lodge Suites, the formal dining room, the Members' bar, the spa, and both men's and women's locker rooms.
This afternoon golf will be arranged at Doonbeg Golf Course. Doonbeg is a spectacular new traditional 18-hole golf links development on a 337-acre complex of sand dunes and 1.5 miles of ocean front with tremendous views of the Atlantic coast from every hole. Designed by Greg Norman who described the site as "one of the greatest sites in the world for a sand-dune style links course". Doonbeg is located between two of Ireland's greatest links courses, Ballybunion and Lahinch.

Day 4:
Today after breakfast, golf will be arranged at Lahinch Golf Club. Known as the St. Andrews of Ireland, the Old Course was originally laid out by Old Tom Morris. It is a classic Irish Links in every sense with plenty of blind shots, cavernous bunkers, and large, sweeping sand dunes. Holes number 4 and 5 (The Klondyke and The Dell) propose that you play completely blind to your target area, the latter with a volcanic-like green setting. A visit to Lahinch is a must for any student of the game.
Day 5:
After a full Scottish breakfast, golf will be arranged on the Ballybunion Old Course. After playing Ballybunion for the first time, you would think that the game of golf originated there. Located on the Shannon estuary, it is a true seaside links course, virtually treeless and a course of sharp contours throughout. It looks like a course laid out on land back in the 10th century.

Day 2:
Upon your arrival in Dublin, you will be met by a SGH Golf representative who will assist you with your luggage and present you with a travel guide complete with maps, travel tips, and places of interest. After being shown to your rental vehicle, you will transfer north to Portrush and the Bushmills Inn. In the village that is home to the world's oldest distillery, between the Giant's Causeway and Royal Portrush Golf Club, this multi-award-winning hotel & restaurant has been outstandingly successful in recreating its origins as an old Coaching Inn and Mill House. The hotel excels in providing a relaxing environment for couples, a small group of friends - very often a golfing party.
This afternoon golf will be arranged at Portstewart. Founded in 1894 and redesigned by Willie Park jnr in the 1920's this championship links course received its greatest makeover with the purchase of land known as "Thistly Hollow" in 1981. This enabled the club to build a stunning new seven holes through towering dunes and fabulous and natural links land.
Day 3:
After breakfast this morning golf will be arranged at Ballyliffin Glashedy. Many regard the Old Course as 'better' than the newer Glashedy course and this is because, withoubt doubt, Glashedy is a severely punishing golf test that demands you to be on top of your game from start to finish. It opens with a resounding bang - three mighty par-4s. The first signals that this course requires straighter driving to narrower fairways and that bump and run might not be an option.
Day 4:
Today after breakfast, golf will be arranged at Royal County Down.
Day 5:
After a full Scottish breakfast, golf will be arranged at Royal Portrush Golf Club. Forget Magnolia Drive or Seventeen Mile Drive. Never mind the dirt road at Yeaman's Hall. The best entrance to any golf club is the A1 as it snakes along the cliffs along the rugged northern Antrim Coast of Northern Ireland. Rounding the bend, Royal Portrush Golf Club unfolds before one's eyes, set among tumbling dunes that run to the cliff's edge with the Atlantic Ocean pounding below.
