Thursday, April 10

Today the Tournament finally starts!

  • 6:30am - 1st hotel shuttle departs for Magnolia Manor Hospitality and the course.
  • 6:45am - Magnolia Manor Hospitality opens, check in with the SGH desk if you have hospitality. Make sure you have some of our coffee and get ready for a long day of great golf!
  • 7:30am- Gates open. The first days play at the Tournament starts at 7:40 with the honorary starters Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and their good friend Gary Player. Start the day by walking the course. You'll quickly realize that what you see on television is vastly different to the real thing; there is as much as 500 ft in elevation changes on some holes. Work backwards from 18 that way you will see the back 9 before they are crowded, the last tee time will be about 2:00pm
  • It's going to be a long day. Head back to Magnolia Manor for lunch and time to rejuvenate. (Insiders Tip - Head for holes 4 & 5- due to their distance from the main entrance there are far fewer patrons on this part of the course, settle in and watch your favorite players come through, concessions and restrooms are close by). This is also a great day to spend time at the range and just getting a feel for the history of the course, stop by at Rae's Creek and the Big Oak beside the clubhouse. Pairing sheets for tee times are located all over the course,  these make a great souvenir gift for friends back home.
  • 7:00pm - Gates close 30 minutes after play.

Friday, April 11

Today you will attend the Second Day of Play at the Tournament!

  • 6:45am - 1st hotel shuttle departs for Magnolia Manor Hospitality and the coruse.
  • 7:00am - Magnolia Manor Hospitality opens, check in with the SGH desk if you have hospitality.
  • 7:45am - First tee time.
  • 8:00am - Gates open, This is cut day, the top 44 players plus ties and anyone within 10 strokes of the lead makes the cut. This will be your last chance to see some of your favorite players who are not in their best form this week. The first tee time will be about 7:45am, a great place to start the day is at the back of 7th green, from here you will be able to watch the action in 5 different areas, you can watch the approach shots into 2nd green, the drives on the 3rd hole, second shots into 7th green, you can also see the 8th and 17th fairways from this vantage point. Use the pairings sheet to determine a player's tee time. On the sheet, the time on the left is when the group tees off. The first number is the group number. The numbers to the left of the players' names are the players' numbers to use the tee times, pick out the golfers you want to see and note what time they start. A typical round takes between 4½ and five hours, or about 15 minutes per hole. If your favorite player has already started, note the difference in time and do the math to figure out which hole he is on. If Tiger Woods teed off on No. 1 at 8 a.m. and it's now 10:15, expect him to be on No. 9 or No. 10. Don’t forget a stop at the Pro shop on your way out. (Insiders Tip – There is a FedEx and UPS station to the right of the Pro shop so you can buy and ship all in one spot.) NB. See details on Masters Chair.
  • 7:00pm - Gates close 30 minutes after play.

Tonight, your Tournament adventure comes to an end. We hope you enjoyed your experience! Don't forget to come back next year!
