Pebble Beach Golf
Poppy Hills
Poppy Hills has replaced Cypress Point in the rotation of courses used in The AT&T Pro-Am. That distinction itself gives it great appeal. The course is the brainchild of Robert Trent Jones, Jr. It makes great use of natural forest, and expansive sand traps, and large undulating greens add to its difficulty. Although it is considered the new kid on the street, Poppy Hills has already proved itself of championship calibre.
Pebble Beach
For many golfers, the pilgrimage to Monterey would be incomplete without playing a round on this institution of American Golf. Not a monster in length, Pebble Beach insists that you play each shot with precision more than power. Holes 1 through 3 allow you modest success, it is at #4 that the course begins to show its character. Holes #7-10 constitute the greatest stretch of seaside holes in the world. And coming home to the 18th is one of golfs greatest moments.
Pasatiempo
Designed by Allister Mackenzie, famed designer of Cypress Point and Augusta National, this masterpiece of golf architecture is consistently rated in the Top 100 in America. A true public golf course, Pasatiempo lacks nothing in stature among other Greats such as Pebble Beach or Spyglass Hill. It possesses some of the most spectacular views in all the world.
The Links at Spanish Bay
Tom Watson, with the help of Robert T. Jones, Jr. and Sandy Tatum have designed a marvel of American golf. The most authentic Scottish linksland course this side of Scotland, Spanish Bay is designed around a rehabilitated dunes environment marked by the subtle colors of lupine, sage and thistle. Played in a brisk wind, Spanish Bay may be the toughest challenge on the entire West Coast.
Spyglass Hill
Jim Murray, of The Los Angeles Times, has been quoted as saying, "if it were human, Spyglass would have a knife in its teeth, a patch on its eye, a ring in its ear, tobacco in its beard and blunderbuss in its teeth." A pirate among gentlemen, Spyglass Hill Golf Course offers a stern test of golf. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., it contains 4 of the most beautiful, yet vicious par 3's in all of golf.
