The magnificent Celtic Manor Resort nestled in the beautiful countryside on the outskirts of Newport is the venue for one of sports more fascinating contests. Steeped in tradition, rich in history and culture, Newport is a first-class destination and is conveniently located less than a two hour drive from London.
The Twenty Ten Course at the Celtic Manor Resort, opened in July 2007, is the first course in Ryder Cup history designed and built for golf's most prestigious team event. The par 71 measuring 7,493 yards was designed to provide a supreme challenge to the world's best golfers in match play conditions.
It offers classic match dilemmas with opportunities for long hitters to chance their arm over long carries of water or take the safety-first approach.
There are nine new holes developed along the floor of the beautiful Usk Valley and nine remodeled holes from the former Wentwood Hills Championship Course. Importantly, they were all shaped with the spectator in mind with better viewing vantage points than at any previous Ryder Cup Match.
That means you will get a unique close-up on a tournament that now is regarded as one of the world's biggest sporting event, as Europe looks to revenge their defeat by the USA at Valhalla in 2008.
