Today golf will be arranged at Dunbar Golf Club.

Dunbar.jpg Designed by Old Tom Morris around 1850, Dunbar East links, situated on the estuary of the Firth of Forth, is a breathtaking layout of a championship links course that stretches across 6,404 yards of coastal terrain. All of the major Scottish Championships have been played here: The Scottish Amateur; Professional Championship and Scottish Boys’ Championship, and it has been used as an Open qualifier on several occasions. It’s situated on a narrow strip of land, which follow the contours of a rocky exposed beach, and bordered on the other side by the Old Deer Park wall making it a challenging course for all levels of players.

Day 3:

Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at North Berwick Golf Club.

North Berwick.jpg Measuring 6317 yards, it’s no monster in length, but such is its trickery that it demands a full repertoire of shot making. Founded in 1832, the club is one of the oldest in the world. Former Prime Minister, Lord Balfour, was captain here in 1891-92. Every hole is memorable - there are blind shots across the bay, and bunkers in which you can disappear from sight. It is great fun and a real test of skill.

Non golfers may like to visit Tantallon Castle.

Tantallon Castle.jpg Tantallon Castle is a mid 14th century fortress which rests on a cliff atop the Firth of Forth. The castle is the last of its kind to have been constructed in Scotland. Built by William Douglas, 1st Earl of Douglas, the castle was left to his illegitimate son and remained within his family for most of its history. King James IV besieged the castle in 1491 as did his successor James V in 1528. It was also active in the Bishop War in 1639 and during Oliver Cromwell’s invasion of Scotland in 1651. The castle is most famous for its ghosts. In March 2009 Richard Wiseman released a photo to the public taken within the castle revealing a figured dressed in courtly garb. Three photographic experts have all confirmed that the image has not been manipulated with, which has heightened the belief that ghosts inhabit the castle.

Day 4:

Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Gullane #1 Course.

Gullane-#1.jpg Gullane Golf Club was founded in 1882. The golf courses here, of which there are three, are linked as one. It offers championship quality links courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. The 3rd hole was recently voted one of the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine (USA). The world famous view from the highest point of the Course on the 7th tee across the course and over to Edinburgh, Fife, and way beyond, is worth the green fee alone. With every hole having its own distinct character, the course is both memorable and enjoyable.

Non golfers may like to visit Edinburgh.

Edinburgh.jpg Edinburgh is a city where there is almost always a view with the New Town and the Old Town providing a backdrop to a city rich in history and positively teeming with culture. The city is a feast for the eye, a series of dramatic contrasts, with its famous castle, stunning skylines and magnificent architecture. The city is compact, one that you can stroll around in comfort – yet large enough to entertain people of all ages, with all kinds of interests. The Old Town revolves around the Royal Mile with Edinburgh Castle, guarding centuries of history, standing dominant and proud at one end-looming over Princes Street Gardens, while at the other end is the Palace of Holyroodhouse which has for centuries been a residence for the British Royal Family. There is an abundance of choice of the discerning shopper. Modern airy shopping malls such as the St. James Centre or Waverley Shopping Centre reflect more modern times. All the main high street chain stores are featured and the new out of town development at the Gyle offers Marks and Spencer and Saveway stores as well as a collection of small boutiques.

Day 5:

Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Muirfield Golf Club.

Muirfield.jpg Handicap Limit – Men: 18, Ladies: 20. Muirfield is the home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers and is the most exclusive golf club in the U.K. Founded in 1744, the existing course is designed in two loops of nine holes. Players have a constantly changing battle with the wind, and the beautifully constructed bunkers (over 150 in total), which never allow a bad shot to escape, are a great feature of the course.

Non golfers may like to visit Dirleton Castle.

Falkland Palace.jpg Dirleton Castle is located 19 miles from Edinburgh and is a medieval fortress. The oldest part of the castle dates back to the 13th century, but was abandoned by the 17th century. The castle received heavy damage during the Wars of Scottish Independence when it was seized by the English. After a tumultuous history the castle was acquired in 1650 by John Nisbet and remained within the family until it was placed in the care of the state in 1923. The castle rests on a rocky outcrop in the path of a coastal approach from England, which resulted in the castles violent history. Today the ruins stand amongst several gardens, including a 16th century doocot (pigeon house) and offer visitors spectacular views of historical architecture and a scenic coastline.
