Barbados Golf Club
The 6,805 yard par 72 golf course has been approved and sanctioned by the PGA European Tour to host a PGA Seniors Tournament in 2003 and has hosted the Barbados Open in 2000 and 2001. Magnificent trees strategically planted 25 years ago gives the course a mature ambience. Two lakes intrude and enhance play on five holes and create a dramatic 'Amen Corner' on holes 15 & 16. A series of coral waste bunkers carved through 4 holes adds to the excitement and personality of the course. Ron Kirby, one of the most respected and experienced golf course architects in the world, redesigned the course to be fair, challenging and a pleasurable walk amidst tropical surroundings. Barbados Golf Club has been designed for all Golfers of all levels to play a challenging course which rewards players of all abilities.
Royal Westmoreland Golf Course
Arguably the finest course in Barbados, the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed Royal Westmoreland Golf Club was carved from a former limestone quarry and sugarcane plantation, which Jones used imaginatively in producing the Quarry and Ridge nines. The course, which has earned a 4 1/2-star rating from Golf Digest's Best Places to Play, has some of the best par 3's anywhere-a sentiment echoed by Ian Woosnam, who owns a home on the island and plays here frequently. One of the most interesting is the third hole, which is modeled after the Redan Hole at North Berwick in Scotland-except for the monkeys that sit in the coral rocks beside the green.
